December 8th and 9th

We would like to encourage you to attend the upcoming "Navigating Medicare in 2011" O&P Compliance and Audit seminar, taking place December 8th and 9th, presented by Zita Upchurch with the Provider Outreach and Education team from CGS the Jurisdiction C DME MAC contractor.

The Alabama Prosthetic and Orthotic Association is spearheading this education, you will be provided in-depth information on compliance, audits, and focus on policies specific to O&P. Specific to the point of taking actual denied claims and going over those claims to identify issues and solutions to common problems that result in denials. (Private patient information will be redacted). Attendees will have opportunities to ask questions and get the answers, as there will be one on one time with the presenter during daily Q&A, breaks, and after the event.

Directions:
Chilton-Clanton Center - The Chilton County Site, is located in the town of Clanton, Alabama. Travel South on I-65 to exit 212 to the giant peach and take a right onto Lay Dam Road (Highway 145) and travel approximately one mile. The site is on the left across from the Pumpkin Patch.   

While this education is being provided by a Region C representative, for the Alabama Prosthetic and Orthotic Association, it will have a great deal of value for those wishing to attend from other regions.  

Registration information:
These are two separate workshops. If you are attending both, you must register for each one separately.
$100.00 per person if you are a member of any state O&P association.
$125.00 per person if you are not a member of any state O&P association.  

Group discounts are available.If you register at least 5 people from one company, per workshop, each additional person is free. (If you are non-members, you will receive a 100.00 discount per additional person.) Group discount cannot be combined.

APOA  2011 Makeup Class on Legal and Ethics

For those who did not complete the Legal and Ethics class at the Annual meeting in July of 2011,  the APOA is providing an alternate opportunity for earning the two (2)  hours of  mandatory credits as required by state law for an Alabama license.  The course content for each class was recorded and is available on separate CDs. 

To obtain these credits:

  1. Send  an email to crawfordfc@hughes.net or a letter to APOA, 550 County Road 474, Clanton , AL 35046 requesting either the Legal or Ethics CD or both.
  1. Include your name, and full address (business or home)
  1. You will receive, by return mail,  the CD(s)  requested and a 10 question test for each course requested (legal and or ethics)
  1. After watching the CD, complete the test.  Send the CD(s), completed test, and a check for $100 for one course or $150 for both courses to APOA, 550 County Road 474, Clanton AL 35046. A passing score on the test is 80% of the questions correct.
  1. When the CD, test,  and your check have been received and if you earn a passing score on the test(s), you will receive a Certificate of Completion for the courses passed. If you do not receive a passing score on the test(s), you will receive the CD and  the test again to retake and resubmit for credit. 
  1. APOA has requested credits for course completion through ABC.     
  1. All steps must be completed by December 31, 2011 to receive credit for your 2011 license.
